The University of Technology, Sydney’s eagerly awaited annual degree show, Design ‘10 opens on Wednesday 8 December.

Attracting thousands of visitors annually the show provides a rare opportunity to see the work of tomorrow’s leading designers, illustrators, filmmakers, artists and animators.
The only show of its kind at an Australian university, the 10-day exhibition profiles the work of students graduating from Fashion and Textiles, Industrial Design, Visual Communication and Interior Design courses.
Design ’10 at the University of Technology, Sydney’s Tower Building opens to the public on Thursday 9 December and runs until Sunday 19 December. Admission is free.
The popular opening event fashion shows will be held on Wednesday 8 December. Two shows at 7pm and 8.45pm are open to the public, but are ticketed events. Visit the UTSDesign ‘10 website at www.utsdesign.com.au for links to Moshtix to book for either show.

Go retro by purchasing tix for the Roller Wars SRDL match on Sat 9 October. You’re in for a quite a treat, as this match in particular features BLOODBATH, by bumpp.net.

BLOODBATH is a collaborative distributed artwork by Bump Projects in association with the Sydney Roller Derby League. BLOODBATH features artists Linda Dement, Kate Richards, Sarah Waterson, Francesca da Rimini, and Nancy Mauro-Flude, each with recognised track records in new media, data visualisation, mediated performance and/or work with embodiment or violence. At an all girl flat track roller derby game, Sydney, 9 October 2010, sensors on the helmets of players feed data to their five artworks, generating digital elaborations of the moves and collisions on track.

Hardware Gallery and Rew Hanks from the Sydney Gallery School are collaborating for the 4th year running. The 2nd and 3rd year students from Hanks’ printmaking classes are displayed with renowned printmakers sourced by Hardware Gallery. This year’s theme is Flight, and in celebration of visionaries such as Yves Klein and Leonardo Da Vinci, these emerging and established artists are asked to make better use of the gallery space than merely the floors and walls.

I usually am! Which is why when I read in this Friday’s Metro that The Suitcase Royale is coming to WHARF 2, I got a little excited.
This alternative performing troupe recently returns from a jaunt across Europe and the British isles, where their Ballad of Backbone Joe was a huge hit. This is a show not to be missed!
